Why I’m Bringing My 10-Year Goals Forward: Radical Career & Life Planning for 2025

As the year draws to a close, I love this time—it’s the perfect opportunity to plan for 2025. I tend to start early, around October or November, giving myself plenty of time to reflect, evaluate, and set a clear course for the year ahead. This isn’t just about tweaking a few things—it’s a radical reinvention of how I want to live and work.

A Comprehensive Review: What Worked and What Didn’t

The first step in my process is a deep dive into the past year. I reflect on what I’ve enjoyed, what hasn’t worked, and where I’ve been “in the zone.” I pay close attention to what’s had a natural flow and what delivered real results. My diary becomes a focus—evaluating how my time was spent, what felt aligned, and what activities drained my energy. I also do a financial review, ensuring the numbers align with my goals and priorities.

Bringing the Future Forward

I’ve always had these long-term plans—writing books, serving on more boards, doing more education, and creating more video content. In my mind, they were set for “someday”—a time when I might semi-retire, win the lotto, or have fewer constraints.

But why wait? What’s stopping me from doing those things now?

For 2025, I’m challenging that narrative. I’m bringing those 10-year goals forward and incorporating them into my life now. Next year, I’ll write books, launch new video series, and dive deeper into education. My platforms are growing, and with that comes an opportunity to make a broader impact—why not maximise that now instead of waiting?

Rethinking Routines and Recalibrating Priorities

Planning for 2025 has also made me re-evaluate how I use my time. For example, starting calls at 9 AM doesn’t fit with my current health routine. So next year, I’ll shift my calls to 10 AM to allow for a more relaxed morning—time for meditation, exercise, and thought leadership. I’ll also extend my working hours into the evening to balance things out.

This shift will allow me to operate at my best. I encourage everyone to think about their routines—what works, what doesn’t, and where frustration creeps in. Make those changes now and set boundaries to ensure the things that don’t serve you stay out of your 2025 diary.

Let Go of What No Longer Serves You

Another key element of my planning is to clear out anything that doesn’t align with my values and goals. This includes saying no to activities I don’t enjoy or that no longer fit—whether it’s speaking engagements, unnecessary travel, or obligations I took on out of habit or obligation.

Heading into 2025 with a clear set of rules about what I will and won’t do gives me the freedom to focus on what really matters. What would you stop doing if you didn’t feel obligated? Get those things out of your diary now so they don’t sneak back in next year.

Create a Plan, Take Off the Blinkers, and Embrace Change

Planning for 2025 is not just practical—it’s liberating and exciting. It’s about taking off the blinkers we put on ourselves and reimagining what’s possible. I’ve learned that radical reinvention doesn’t have to wait for retirement or the “right” time—sometimes, the best time is right now.

I challenge you to think about your own long-term plans. What could you bring forward into 2025? What ideas have you been putting off? Start planning early so you have time to explore and refine your ideas. This way, you’ll hit the ground running on January 1st with a system that supports your goals, routines, and priorities.
