Is there a downside to staying too long with one employer?

The perception can be that if you have worked in one place for 10 or more years, you have not had the same challenges and professional development that a candidate who has moved jobs 4-5 times. I understand that this can be an unfair perception, but this is the reality; many candidates who have stayed too long in their comfort zone may find it quite challenging when they go to the market to try and secure new employment. Employer loyalty is a double-edged sword. Consider framing your resume and your LinkedIn profile with separate work histories to showcase your career growth and highlight where you took on more responsibility and where you achieved promotion in the workplace.
